توسکا قشلاقی Alnus glutinosa

توسکا قشلاقی، درختی خزان کننده از تیرۀ توس، بومی غرب آسیا، شمال آفریقا و اروپا است. بلندی آن در طبیعت به ۲۵ متر می رسد. پوست تنه قهوه ای تیره تا سیاه و شیاردار است. برگ ها به طول تا ۱۰ سانتی متر و عرض تا ۸ ساتی متر، واژ تخم مرغی تا مدور، با لبه اره ای، در سطح فوقانی به رنگ سبز تیره و براق و در سطح زیرین سبزمایل به خاکستری روشن است. گل آذین نر دم گربه ای، آویخته به طول ۱۰ سانتی متر یا بیشتر و گل آذین ماده نیز دم گربه ای افراشته و کوتاه تر و میوۀ آن فندقه و در زمان رسیدن شبیه مخروط چوبی است.

Alnus glutinosa

Alnus glutinosa, the Common Alder, is the deciduous tree in the family Betulaceae. It is native to western Asia to North Africa and Europe. Grows up to 25m in the wild.
The bark is dark brown and blackish, fissured from an early age. The leaves are obovate to orbicular, finely toothed, to 10cm long and 8cm wide. They are dark green and shiny above and pale grey-green beneath. Male and female flowers are in different catkins; the male is greenish yellow, drooping and up to 10cm long; the female is a much smaller, upright catkin which, after fertilization, ripens into a distinctive small brown cone. Spent cones persist right through to the following spring.
