انجیلی، درخت، گاهی درختچهای، خزان کننده، از تیره انجیلیان و بومی جنگلهای هیرکانی شمال ایران و قفقاز است.
انجیلی درختی است زیبا که ارتفاع آن به ۲۵ متر میرسد. برگها متناوب، به طول ۵-۱۴ به عرض ۳-۱۰ سانتیمتر، بیضوی تا تخممرغی و نوک تیز، با لبه مواج است. برگهای نورسیده بنفش مایل به قرمز هستند و سپس در تابستان به رنگ سبز تیره و درخشان تبدیل میشوند و سرانجام در پاییز برگهای درخشان به رنگهای مختلفی مانند زرد پررنگ، نارنجی سوخته و پررنگ و قرمز روشن میگرایند.
گل های آن بدون گلبرگ با پرچم های قرمز رنگ در اواخر زمستان ظاهر می شوند. میوه آن کپسول چوبی تخم مرغی به رنگ قهوه ای تیره، صاف و درخشان است.

The Persian ironwood, is a deciduous tree in the family Hamamelidaceae. It is native to Hyrcanian forests in Northern Iran and Eastern Caucasus.
It is a slow-growing tree that grows up to 25 m in height. It has spreading branches, and will often have several trunks.
The bark is dark brown and flaking to reveal light brown patches. The leaves emerge after the flowers and initially appear reddish-purple. They are alternate, oval to oblong, 5-14 cm long and 3-10 cm across, with wavy margins. They are bright glossy green turning in autumn to a rich purple to orange and brilliant red.
The Flowers are small, without petals, but with red anthers. They are produced in late winter to early spring on bare stems. The fruit is a nut-like brown capsule.
