ﻟﺮگ، درختی ﺧﺰان کنند از ﺗﯿﺮۀ گردوﯾﻴﺎن و ﺑﻮمی جنگل ﻫﺎی ﺷﻤﺎل اﯾﺮان و ﻗﻔﻘﺎز اﺳﺖ. ﺑﻠﻨﺪای آن در ﻃﺒﯿﻌﺖ ﺑﻪ ۳۰ ﻣﺘﺮ می رﺳﺪ و ﺗﺎج آن گسترده اﺳﺖ.
پوسته ﺗﻨﻪ، ﺻﺎف و خاکستری روﺷﻦ اﺳﺖ. ﺑﺮگ ها ﺷﺎﻧﻪ ای، ﺑﺎ ﺑﺮگچه ﻫﺎیی ﺑﻪ ﻃﻮل ﺗﺎ ۱۵ ﺳﺎنتیﻣﺘﺮ و
ﻋﺮض ﺗﺎ ۴ ﺳﺎنتی ﻣﺘﺮ و ﺑﺪون دﻣﺒﺮگچه، و سطح رویی ﺻﺎف و ﺑﻪ رنگ ﺳﺒﺰ ﺗﯿﺮه اﺳﺖ. گل ﻫﺎ کوچک و بدون گلبرگ ﺑﺎ گل آذﯾﻦ آوﯾﺰان ﺳﺒﺰ رنگ اﺳﺖ.
گلﻫﺎی ﻧﺮ ﺑﻪ ﻃﻮل ﺗﺎ ۱۲ ﺳﺎنتیﻣﺘﺮ و ﻣﺎده ﺑﻪ ﻃﻮل ﺗﺎ ۱۵ ﺳﺎنتی ﻣﺘﺮ ﺑﻪ ﺻﻮرت ﺟﺪاگانه در ﺑﻬﺎر روی یک گیاه ﻇﺎﻫﺮ می ﺷﻮﻧﺪ.
ﻣﯿﻮۀ آن ﻓﻨﺪقه کوچک ﺑﺎﻟﺪار ﺑﺎ گل آذﯾﻦ آوﯾﺰان ﺑﺎریک ﺗﺎ ﻃﻮل ۵۰ ﺳﺎنتی ﻣﺘﺮ تشکیل می ﺷﻮد.
Pterocarya fraxinifolia
Pterocarya fraxinifolia, the Caucasian Wingnut, is a deciduous tree in the family Juglandaceae. It is native to Northern Iran and Caucasus.
It is a tall tree with broadly spreading canopy growing to 30m in the wild. The Bark is whitish-grey and smooth and becomes furrowed with age. The leaves are pinnate.
Unstalked leaflets, to 15cm long and 4cm across, are glossy dark green and smooth above.
The flowers are small and without petals, in green, pendulous catkins, males to 12cm and females to 15cm long, borne separately on the same plant in spring.
The fruit is a small nut, surrounded by two wings, borne in slender, hanging catkins, to 50cm long.
